Smart Homes Hamilton

Plan it before the walls close.

A new build is the best opportunity to think about lighting, energy, heating, blinds, solar, EV charging and automation as one electrical system rather than separate additions later.

The design-stage advantage

Some decisions are cheap now and expensive later.

Early planning lets all of the following be considered as one electrical system. That does not mean automating everything immediately. Getting the switchboard space, wiring routes and provisions right at this stage is valuable on its own.

Many of these can remain dormant provisions: wired, spaced and ready, but not activated until the household wants them.

Solar

Project process

Four stages, from plans to a house that works.

01

Design

We start with how the owners want to live in the house. What should happen automatically? What should remain manual? What matters now, and what might be added later?

02

Electrical planning

Power, lighting, switching, controls, switchboard requirements, equipment locations and future provisions are coordinated as one electrical design, alongside the architect's plans and the builder's programme.

03

Installation

The smart-home components are installed alongside the normal electrical installation, avoiding unnecessary duplication between separate systems.

04

Commissioning

The agreed automations are configured, operation is tested, normal controls are kept intuitive, and the homeowners are shown how everything in their house works.

For builders, architects and designers

An electrical partner who can talk smart early.

2E Electrical works as an electrical partner that can discuss smart-home requirements early in the project, rather than introducing automation after the electrical design is already complete. You stay in charge of the design; we bring the electrical and automation experience to the table.

Early design conversations about lighting, switching and provisions while plans are still fluid.

Coordination with your drawings, your programme and your other consultants.

Clear documentation of what is smart now and what is provisioned for later.

One accountable electrical contractor across the whole installation.

Smart without locking the house down

A smart home should still feel like a normal home.

The goal is not to fill the home with proprietary touchscreens and make every function dependent on one interface. The home should remain intuitive, and the technology should be expandable rather than exclusive.

Normal switches work normally
Automation runs in the background
Systems can be expanded later
The homeowner understands how the house works

Future ready

Provisions, not promises.

Even when a feature is not being activated straight away, sensible provisions can be considered during construction while access is easy. What suits your build is confirmed on assessment, not assumed.

EV charging
Solar
Battery storage considerations
Motorised blinds
Additional energy monitoring
Pool equipment
Outdoor areas
